German car manufacturers to skip summer break

Daimler AG would stay away from summer break at its automobile plants. The company will keep assembly lines busy especially for the renovated Mercedes Benz E-class model. The company surged 14.06% this year, outrunning BMW and Volkswagen. Martin Steinlehner, a Mercedes official said “We’re planning for another year of record sales”.

BMW is also keeping the factories running whole summer and it might be preparing for a new model launch. The reason for the summer workload could also be meeting the demand as the car manufacturer has been in contrast of recent job cuts and shutdowns in the industry.

“Growth in the U.S. and China more than outbalances the European slowdown for the German car-makers,” said Christian Ludwig, an analyst in Bankhaus Lampe. “Europe is no longer as important for the German luxury-car makers as it used to be” he added for Bloomberg.

Exactly this demand from Asia and US have been offsetting the crisis in European car industry and preventing BMW from recording low sales which eventually would lead to a sharp share price drop.

Audi, a part of Volkswagen Group, is closing A4, A5 and A8 production lines for maintenance while the A3 model would continue production.
