Ford shares rebound on Friday, CEO Jim Hackett receives $17.1 million in total compensation in 2018

Ford Motor Company (F) said on Friday that Chief Executive Officer Jim Hackett had received salary, bonus and stock awards at a total value of $17.1 million last year. If taking into account pensions and perks, Ford’s CEO earned as much as $17.7 million.

In comparison, Hackett’s total compensation for 2017 was $16.3 million.

Ford also said that Hackett’s total pay was 276 times higher than the median total compensation of all its employees ($64 316).

Ford shares closed higher for the fourth time in the past thirteen trading sessions in New York on Friday. The stock edged up 0.24% ($0.02) to $8.43, after touching an intraday high at $8.46 and an intraday low at $8.37.

Shares of Ford Motor Company have risen 10.20% so far in 2019 compared with a 12.59% gain for the benchmark index, S&P 500 (SPX).

In 2018, Ford Motor Co’s stock plummeted 38.75%, thus, it again underperformed the S&P 500, which registered a 6.24% loss.

The second-largest auto maker in the United States said that its adjusted pre-tax income for the entire 2018 had shrunk to $7 billion from $9.6 billion in the previous year.

In January, Ford Motor Co, which has been restructuring global operations, reported a drop in its fourth-quarter operating profit, since losses in every key market across the globe with the exception of North America pressured overall results.

In an email to Ford employees on January 24th, CEO Hackett noted that the auto maker would not accept the “mediocre” results achieved in 2018, while also saying that doubling the full-year operating profit was an objective for the company. However, Hackett did not specify any time frame for achieving such an objective.

According to CNN Money, the 18 analysts, offering 12-month forecasts regarding Ford Motor Company’s stock price, have a median target of $9.25, with a high estimate of $12.00 and a low estimate of $6.00. The median estimate represents a 9.73% upside compared to the closing price of $8.43 on March 15th.

The same media also reported that 15 out of 22 surveyed investment analysts had rated Ford Motor Company’s stock as “Hold”, while 5 – as “Buy”. On the other hand, 1 analyst had recommended selling the stock.
